Manufacturer and distributor of temporary flooring and ground protection for stadiums, special events, and conference centers and industrial, military, and construction sites. 5-time member of INC 5000 Fastest Growing Companies list. Private-equity owned.
Hired as the first HR professional in the 14-year old company's history to establish a cohesive HR function and support managers as the then New York City-based firm continued its rapid growth. Working at strategic and tactical levels, accomplishments included:

Rapid Growth - Oversaw 60% growth in the workforce from 80 to 130 employees (plus 60 - 80 temps) across 6 locations nationally

Manufacturing Start-Up - Established HR practices at the company's first manufacturing facility (100,000 sf) as it started operations and began 24-7 production

Facility Moves - Managed relocation of headquarters to Dallas-Forth Worth suburbs, including severance, retention, and outplacement packages for departing employees and moving, house-hunting, and related activities for transferring employees. Also supported consolidation of multiple distribution and sales facilities.

Recruiting & Staffing - Oversaw rapid staffing of new corporate office during first year after the move. Thereafter, served as primary recruiter for all professional hires across all locations nationwide (NY, FL, TX, CA).

Executive Transitions - Supported transitions of two CEO's -- first, from the founder to the protege, and then to the company's first externally-hired leader -- helping guide managers and employees through the significant cultural, operational, and people-related changes that came with these leadership moves

Performance Management - Developed, trained, and implemented company's first annual performance evaluation process, refining the process in each succeeding year

Benefits Administration - Selected and implemented the company's first 401k plan, which positively impacted attraction and retention of professional employees

Payroll & HRIS Administration - Selected vendor (Paycom) and implemented new payroll and HRIS system seamlessly. Later, led selection and implementation of PEO (Professional Employer Organization) vendor (ADP TotalSource) for benefits, payroll, and compliance purposes when Signature decided to adopt PEO model.

Progressed steadily from serving in HR management positions at the local level (80 employees in two locations) to the business unit level (700 employees in 4 locations) to the division level (6000 employees in 100 locations across a dozen lines of business). Selected accomplishments included:

Mergers & Acquisitions - Managed 30+ acquisitions, supporting the division's growth from 1000 to 6000 employees through acquisitions over a 5-year period. Led all acquisition-related HR activities from due diligence through integration of the new employees into the company's HR, benefits, and payroll programs.

Performance Evaluation - Designed the division's new performance evaluation system, trained managers, and led implementation, resulting in high adoption and favorability ratings from managers and employees.

Policies and Procedures - Wrote and communicated new policy and procedure statements to align HR practices across all operating units and lines of business - increasing compliance, reducing risk, and helping form a consistent division-level culture.

Compensation - Developed the corporation's first organization-wide job structure, giving the 110-year old firm the ability to compare and assess jobs for compliance, recruiting, and geographic labor market purposes across all locations nationwide.

Spearheaded employee communications - writing, editing, and publishing division-wide newsletters. Working closely with IT colleagues, designed and implemented the division's first comprehensive HR intranet system, bringing HR, policy, and benefits information directly to each employee's desktop on a real-time basis.

Executive Recruiting - Led recruiting of senior leadership at Signature, including CFO, VP Operations, VP - Engineering, and Sales and Marketing Directors. Used combination of direct sourcing of passive candidates, job posting, and collaborating with search partners.

Organization Design - ​At Signature, improved sales results by redesigning sales organization to facilitate transition from transactional sales to customer-focused, account-based model -- acquiring more appropriate talent and aligning roles and skill levels to business needs. Steps included creating new Inside Sales function to support Account Managers.

Business Partnership - In a newly-acquired company at First American, reduced labor costs by 20%, increased efficiencies, and raised morale and engagement in by partnering with leadership to redesign jobs, rightsize workforce, and re-distribute functions across locations.

Employee Relations - In all roles, advised on and conducted reductions-in-force in a manner that ensured legal compliance; reduced risk; maintained maximum dignity, resources, and support for impacted employees, re-assured the survivors, and protected the culture.

I've also facilitated strategic planning meetings and collaborated with external trainers to plan and deliver management retreats.

Benefits Design - At Signature, improved employee attraction, retention, and security by providing benefits enhancements to better meet employee needs and desires -- including 401k plan; disability insurance; vision coverage; and paid maternity leave policy.

​Profitability - Near the conclusion of my tenure at Signature, achieved 25% savings ($250,000 annually) on HR, payroll, and benefits costs by advising on selection and leading implementation of Professional Employer Organization (PEO) relationship with leading vendor (ADP TotalSource).

Global Expansion - At Signature, supported employee team in the U.K. In addition, when the company decided to expand its salesforce into mainland Europe, I led the charge in establishing the necessary International PEO relationships for payroll, benefits, compliance, and recruiting purposes.

Comprehensive Faculty Development:
A Guide To Attract, Retain, Develop, Reward, and Inspire
This 185-page guide was based on the integrated talent management model that I developed. The guide laid out a step-by-step path for successfully hiring, on-boarding, evaluating, compensating, developing, and retaining talented employees who fit well with the organization's culture.
